Another Law Journal Publication on the Division of an Inheritance by Dr Susandra van Wyk
We're excited to share that Dr. Susandra van Wyk has recently published a new academic article in the Potchefstroom Electronic Law Journal. The article discusses how inheritance is divided in South African deceased estates, comparing it to practices from 4000 years ago in Old Babylonia. Susandra suggests that, although South Africa has been influenced by Roman-Dutch legal scholars, there are lessons to be learned from the Old Babylonian tradition. By incorporating some of these ancient practices, she argues for a more innovative and flexible approach to dividing inheritances in South Africa.
